NEWS...This has come as a surprise to me.  I have been having severe knee problems for awhile, since one year ago when I fell and broke my ankle.  I have to get a partial knee replacement the first of June since it is bone on bone now.  I wanted to let you know, those that are coming to the store in June.  Jamie will be there running the store for me.  If you have questions you can always email me!

Yep! I'm out potting away already.  Here is a sample of my getting ready.  I ran out of dirt and plants.  Again I will be having cherry tomotoe plants so feel free to grab a few to eat when you stop in.  Opening soon..........wishing you a Merry Day!

                   "SPRING HAS SPRUNG AT CYNTHIA'S"

There is quite a bit going on at Cynthia's this year.  So read the newsletter and get caught up in the excitment or step in the front door and be overwhelmed!  That's what its all about and that's why Jamie or I are here to help you find your way to that special project you'd like to attempt.  Cynthia's has the hottest new items out in colors and trends...  We also have so much more this year with gifts of  bamboo wind chimes, ceramic mushrooms for your garden, angels, silk slippers and much more.

I've been very busy stocking new yarns, putting up new garment models, putting out gift items and patiently waiting for the snow to melt so I can move on to do a bit of gardening.  You may also notice a new look to Cynthia's this year, but you know where I am so I'll let you see what you think when you get here.

There is a fashion forcast this year of pops of primary shade colors, feminimity, flirty features of lace, silk novelty ruffles by Trendsetter yarns, tunics and tweeds, belts and the belted, textures and openwork, silk and seaweed, cashmere and chunky, beaded lace by Tilli Tomas, and the list goes on.

There are many fun things going on in the knitting community with the HOT SOX contest.  To to www.thinkoutsidethesox.com  site for rules and regulations.  Cynthia's is representing Skacel and Mountain Colors yarn.  Knitter's Magazine will be posting information also.  Just think you have the chance to design a sock and win big prizes.  I would feel honored for you to represent my store and give you all the help I can in your designing.sox.bmp

Take a gander at the major designers coming to teach you many techniques this year.  I hope you can combine a vacation up here with a bit of knitting!

I hope to see you this summer!

                           Sincerely,  Cynthia

Flat  Feet  New at Cynthia's

What’s the buzz?  A new concept in sock knitting?

The new concept is there are no skeins, no balls, no tangles.  The yarn is presented in a commercially knit stockinette “flat” which has been handpainted. You simply unravel as you knit.  DO NOT WIND INTO A BALL.  Knit directly from the flat into the sock of your choice.

It’s creative, it’s fun and it’s easy.

Flat + Needles = Socks.

“We tested several yarns for durability, softness, appropriateness, availability, color retention and cost,” said Mary Arnold, one of the owners.  The soft yarn we chose is 80% Superwash merino/20% nylon.  Each flat is 50 gm and packaged as two flats, one for each sock.  The flats are generous—enough for men’s socks, if desired.

Because each flat is hand-painted, no other pair will match the flats; these are “art socks”, one-of-a-kind.  The unique color pattern develops as the flat is knit.  It is literally a color transformation at the needletip.  Depending on the pattern selected, the colors may yield diagonal colors, slight striping, or even bold color.

Conjoined Creations llc, is a hand-dyeing company in Cave Creek, AZ, which produces several lines of yarns, threads and fibers for the craft market.  Conjoined Creations is a joint effort of two experienced fiber artists.  “After our husbands and friends accused us of being ‘joined at the hip,’ we chose to put our heads together to form an enterprise that draws upon our business backgrounds, passion for fiber, love of color, yet still allows us to have fun,” stated  Arnold.  (Approved to use on web and newsletters by Conjoined Creations.)

WOW I'm such a lucky store owner.  I have a very talented group of instructors.  This is Dot's felted necklaces.  She will be demonstrating how to make these at her workshop this summer.  Take a look at the class list.  There is so much more to this class.  You will have hands on as Dot takes you through the steps of needle felting.  Get your name on the list quick.  Dot has sent many samples to the store for you to see.

                                          APRIL LUNCHEON NEWS!

Cynthia's Spring Luncheon was a sucess at the Bakery!  Lorinda put on a fabulous lunch of potatoe soup in bread bowls, and a new chocolate fudge pecan pie to die for.  There was 35 registared, but due to weather a couple couldn't attend.  Lynne challenged us with her sock patterns, we laughed, played games, and can hardly wait until the fall luncheon on Sept 20th.  Watch for pictures to come on web site and in store.
